Vishay introduced resonant transformer/inductor to save substrate space and simplify the layout of LLC application PCB
2022-09-30
A few days ago, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE stock market code: VSH) announced that it would launch a new type of resonant transformer - MRTI5R5EZ - for inductor inductor capacitor (LLC) applications. The transformer and integrated inductor use a single package. 5.5 kW Vishay Custom Magnetics MRTI5R5EZ saves PCB space, simplifies layout and reduces the number of devices to be installed. Magnetization and leakage inductance are fully adjustable and parasitic parameters are small.
The recently released device is the first transformer that uses auxiliary intermediate transformer branches to form the resonant inductance of the circuit. Additional cores are required for other devices to achieve the same function. This unique structure not only saves space, but also simplifies the design without interconnection or jumper between the resonant inductor and the transformer winding.
MRTI5R5EZ is applicable to vehicle charger, industrial control, solar inverter, half bridge/full bridge resonant power transformer of national defense, avionics and building equipment. In addition to the turn ratio that can be customized for these applications, transformer losses can be transferred from the core to the coil as needed, achieving excellent performance and heat dissipation, while optimizing capacitor selection with excellent parasitic parameters.
The operating frequency of the device is 100 kHz to 350 kHz, the rated power is 4 kW to 6 kW, the input voltage is 400 V to 800 V, and the rated current is 28 A. The rated insulation voltage of MRTI5R5EZ is 2500 V. The transformer includes a bracket for cold plate mounting, either raised or flush mounted. The standard connector of the transformer is M4 ring connector, the lead length and connector type can be customized, and the thermal conductive gasket used for fixing the surface of the device is provided.
MRTI5R5EZ can now provide samples and has been mass produced. The sample supply cycle is 4 weeks, and the mass production supply cycle is 16 to 20 week
