2026-04-23
Kioxia announced the launch of the new solid-state drive KIOXIA EG7 for PC OEMs. This is Kioxia's first client storage solution based on BiCS8 QLC, which provides performance comparable to TLC product BG7, thereby reducing the TCO of PC products.
EG7 is based on DRAM less HMB scheme, using PCIe Gen4 × 4 interface, with external specifications of M.2 2280/2242/2230, compliant with NVMe 2.0d specification, and supports TCG Opal 2.02 SED encryption.
The KIOXIA EG7 series offers three capacity versions: 512GB/1024GB/2048GB, with sequential read/write speeds of up to 7000MB/s and 6200MB/s, and random read/write speeds of up to 1000K IOPS. It is currently producing samples for some PC OEMs, and PCs equipped with this series of storage are expected to start shipping from this quarter.
