Provide two types of packaging: standard and wide body, in compliance with isolation, insulation, and creepage distance/electrical clearance specifications
STGAP2SA and STGAP2HSA automotive grade electrically isolated gate drivers from STMicroelectronics have an output current of 4A and a response time of only 60ns. The two drivers are highly matched and support high switching frequencies, thereby improving power density and energy efficiency.
This series of drivers is compatible with IGBT and silicon-based MOSFET power switches with DC voltage rails up to 1200V. The driving voltage can support up to 26V and can also support negative pressure turn off. The current filling/pulling capability is 4A. As new members of the STGAP series of industrial and automotive grade electrically isolated gate drivers, these two AEC Q100 certified products are suitable for DC/DC converters, water pumps, fans, heaters, electric compressors, and on-board chargers (OBCs) in traditional gasoline vehicles, hybrid vehicles, and pure electric vehicles. Other applications include wall mounted and vertical DC charging systems, as well as industrial inverters and motor drive devices.
The two drivers integrate rich security protection functions internally, which can simplify product design and improve reliability. These safety features include under voltage lockout shutdown (UVLO), output safety status control during power on and off periods; Miller clamp circuit to prevent misleading communication; The over temperature protection/automatic recovery function prevents the device from exceeding the safe operating temperature range. In addition, when communication on the low-voltage side is abnormal, the chip has a built-in self checking watchdog to ensure output safety; There is also a power-saving standby mode, which can be entered by simultaneously raising the PWM input.
Both devices meet the isolation voltage requirements of UL 1577 standard. STGAP2SA adopts standard SO-8 packaging, with transient isolation voltage and surge isolation voltage (VIOTM, VIOSM) of 4800V. STGAP2HSA meets the basic insulation requirements of IEC 60747-17 standard, with surge isolation voltage (VIOSM) reaching 6000V, and adopts wide body SO-8W packaging. The creepage distance and electrical clearance are both 8mm.
Both devices are equipped with demonstration boards for easy and rapid development. Among them, EVALSTGAP2SA is equipped with STGAP2SA chip, while EVALSTGAP2HSA is equipped with STGAP2HSA chip, which is suitable for designs with higher isolation performance requirements.
