Infineon and Eaton expand their collaboration on AI battery management solutions to industrial and consumer applications
2025-03-20
Infineon Technologies, a global semiconductor leader in power systems and the Internet of Things, and Eaton, a leading AI battery optimization software provider, have expanded their current collaboration in the field of automotive battery management solutions (BMS) to a complete BMS product portfolio, including various industrial and consumer applications. Utilizing Infineon PSOC ™ Microcontrollers, this collaboration combines the advantages of AI driven battery optimization software and advanced power semiconductor components to create a cutting-edge solution that can minimize battery performance degradation, detect safety issues, and improve the performance and reliability of battery power supply systems.
This technology integrates Eaton's BMS software based on AI and pre trained models, with SOX, RUL, and safety diagnostic functions, with Infineon's MOSFET for battery protection and AI based PSOCTM 6 battery management system components, achieving extremely advanced machine learning capabilities. This brings many advantages to customers, including accurate prediction of battery state of charge (SOC), reduced system costs, and faster product time to market. This collaboration meets the growing demand for advanced battery management systems in industrial and consumer markets such as light electric vehicles, portable electronic products, energy storage systems, robots, and power tools.
With the increasing demand in the market for improving energy efficiency, extending battery life, and predictive maintenance, the market for battery management and optimization is rapidly expanding. In the collaboration between Eaton and Infineon, AI plays a crucial role in improving battery performance. The cooperation between the two parties has become a leading solution in many application fields, such as robots, wearable devices, portable medical devices, smart home devices and appliances, battery powered IoT products, and low-power energy storage solutions.
Eaton's software has been pre validated and deployed on Infineon PSOCTM. The software was benchmarked in an application consisting of up to 24 units and compared with traditional techniques that require a large number of unit feature descriptions. The evaluation was conducted using LG Chem INR21700 M50 batteries available on the market over a wide temperature range (0-45 ° C), and the results were comparable, demonstrating the enormous value inherent in the technology collaboration between Eaton and Infineon.
We are pleased to collaborate with Eaton to provide AI battery optimization software for various industrial applications, "said Cuauhtemoc Medina, Industrial Applications Manager at Infineon Technologies." Infineon's PSOCTM microcontroller has advanced machine learning capabilities and is highly compatible with Eaton's AI software suite, providing customers with higher performance, more reliable, and safer battery power systems
We are pleased to expand our collaboration with Infineon by integrating our Advanced SoX and predictive diagnostic software into the PSOCTM series, providing market leading battery management and diagnostic capabilities for various industrial applications, "said Dr. Umut Genc, CEO of Eaton
Artificial intelligence has become one of Infineon's most important growth drivers. By relying on innovative manufacturing technologies such as silicon (Si) ultra-thin wafers, 300mm gallium nitride (GaN), and highly competitive 200mm silicon carbide (SiC), Infineon has consolidated its strong position in the industry.
