RECOM launches medical grade, wide input DC/DC converter with 2MOPP/250 VAC for the first time
2024-10-07
RECOM has launched two cost-effective DC/DC converters with the highest level of medical isolation, using both through-hole installation and SMD types. The REM2A and REM4A series are 2 W and 4 W respectively, with reinforced insulation of 5 kVAC/1 min and dual patient protection at 250 VAC. These products are suitable for (2MOPP) function and have a creepage distance and electrical clearance of over 8 mm. B. For BF and CF type patient contact applications, the leakage current is as low as 2 µ A.

These two DC/DC converters have a 2:1 input range: 4.5-12 V, 9-18 V, 18-36 V, or 36-75 VDC. Provide fixed and fully stable DC output voltages: 5 V, 9 V, 12 V, 15 V, 24 V,+/-5 V,+/-12 V, and+/-15 VDC. The REM2A series also offers an additional 3.3 V output. The operating temperature range of REM2A is -40 ° C to+90 ° C, while REM4A is -40 ° C to+80 ° C, and both do not require derating at nominal input. In the presence of airflow or derating, the module can operate at an ambient temperature of up to+105 ° C.

The product provides input undervoltage, output overcurrent, overvoltage, and short-circuit protection functions. In addition, it also provides on/off control function for shutting down DC/DC converters for energy-saving applications.

The product has passed the IEC/EN/ANSI/AAMI 60601 Third Edition Medical Safety Certification, as well as the IEC/EN/UL62368-1 IT and Multimedia Application Certification. The module can operate in environments with up to 5000 meters of altitude and level 2 pollution. RECOM is known for its high quality, with an average time between failures (MTBF) of over 5 million hours for both the 2 W and 4 W series at 25 ° C according to MIL-HDBK-217F (GB) standards.

If medical and other safety critical applications require the highest level of isolation, especially in limited space and high temperatures, these two DC/DC converters are a cost-effective solution, "said Matthew Dauterive, Master of Science and RECOM DC/DC Product Manager.
