Vishay launches solid molded tantalum capacitors to enhance the performance of electronic detonation systems
2024-07-05
The design of the Tantamount? Device is sturdy, with a leakage current (DCL) as low as 0.005CV, and strict testing standards to ensure reliable detonation in harsh environments
Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE stock code: VSH) announced the launch of a new series of TANTAMOUNT specifically designed for electronic detonation systems ™ Surface mounted solid molded tantalum capacitors - TX3. The Vishay Sprague TX3 series devices have a sturdy mechanical structure, low leakage current (DCL), strict testing standards, and superior performance and reliability compared to commercial tantalum capacitors and MLCC.
The recently released capacitor DCL is only 0.005CV. Compared with other capacitor technologies, tantalum capacitors have a higher energy density and can provide higher energy to ensure correct detonation. They are an ideal choice for remote detonation systems in mining and demolition applications, meeting the requirements of reliable discharge. The tantalum anode technology of this device is combined with Vishay's excellent dielectric forming technology to ensure stable electrical performance in harsh environments.
To ensure reliability, the testing specifications for TX3 series capacitors are more stringent than standard commercial devices. Each product is subjected to 100% surge current testing using standard screening methods, and additional secondary screening is performed on key electrical characteristics to eliminate inter batch errors. To provide a reliable solution, the device core and lead frame are encapsulated in hard plastic resin. Compared with MLCC, capacitors comply with MIL-STD-202 testing standards and have higher resistance to impact (100 g) and vibration (20 g).
The TX3 series devices are packaged in B (EIA 3528-21) and C (EIA 6032-28) packages, with a capacitance range of 10 µ F to 100 µ F, a rated voltage of 16 V to 25 V, and a tolerance as low as ± 10%. The ESR of the device is 0.700 W to 2.3 W at+25 ° C, with a ripple current of 0.438 A and an operating temperature of up to+125 ° C. The TX3 series devices use lead-free (Pb) terminals, comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards, and are halogen-free.
The new type of solid tantalum capacitor can now provide samples and has achieved mass production, with a supply cycle of 10 to 12 weeks.
