Nexperia Expands the Packaging Series of NextPower 80/100 V MOSFET Product Portfolio
2023-07-01
LFPAK56 and LFPAK88 packages with efficient switching and low peak characteristics are now available

Nexperia, a high-capacity production expert in the field of basic semiconductor devices, today announced the expansion of the NextPower 80/100 V MOSFET product portfolio's packaging series. Previously, this product combination only provided LFPAK56E packaging, but now it has added LFPAK56 and LFPAK88 packaging designs. These devices have high efficiency and low peak characteristics, suitable for communication, server, industrial, switching power supply, fast charging, USB-PD, and motor control applications.

For a long time, the quality factor Qg * RDSon has been the focus of semiconductor manufacturers to improve MOSFET switching efficiency. However, blindly reducing this quality factor has led to unexpected consequences. When MOSFETs are turned on or off, the peak withstand voltage increases, which increases the electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated. After confirming this new issue, Nexperia immediately began researching how to improve other process technical parameters to help solve this problem. Nexperia's unremitting efforts ultimately led to the release of NextPower 80/100 V MOSFETs. The Qrr (reverse recovery charge) of this device is relatively low, which can significantly reduce the peak value during switching conversion. At the same time, it exhibits the same efficient performance as competing MOSFETs and has lower EMI.

By adding LFPAK56 and LFPAK88 packaging series to the efficient and low peak NextPower 80/100 V MOSFET, Nexperia not only helps designers reduce application size and experience the super reliability of copper clip packaging, but also provides new options for design engineers and customers, hoping to provide additional resources for existing designs.
