TDK has introduced new axial capacitors and star-welded capacitors suitable for 125 V, while also upgrading its 63 V product series

TDK Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange code: 6762) has expanded its axial/welded star shaped aluminum electrolytic capacitor product line to the B43693/B43793 series (125 V to 250 V) with a rated voltage of 125 V, and upgraded the existing B41687/B41787 series 63 V product line (25 V to 63 V). These capacitors are widely used in small new energy vehicles (xEVs), micro mobility tool platforms, as well as industrial systems such as forklifts, electric ships, and humanoid robots.
The individual components of the B43693/B43793 series products support higher DC support voltages, allowing users to meet application requirements without the need for series capacitors, simplifying the design of capacitor banks and improving system robustness and efficiency. The ripple current capability of this component can reach up to 21.6 A, the operating temperature can reach up to+140 ° C, the capacitance range is 56 µ F to 650 µ F, and the external dimensions are between 16 × 25 mm and 21 × 49 mm (diameter × length). Among them, the 125 V model is designed specifically for 96 V systems with limited space, high thermal stress, and the need to achieve stable energy buffering under dynamic load conditions.
The B41687/B41787 series adopts the same axial/welded star structure design concept, achieving design standardization under different voltage levels. The maximum operating temperature of this series can reach+150 ° C, and the capacitance range is from 510 µ F to 4800 µ F.
The common features of these four series of products are low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and strong ripple current tolerance. For example, this helps reduce power loss in the DC bus stage of the inverter and improve its thermal efficiency. Its mechanical structure design is suitable for harsh working conditions, with a maximum anti vibration performance of 20 g for standard models, and can provide customized models with a maximum anti vibration performance of 60 g upon customer request. Axial lead type and solder star type terminal blocks support flexible installation configurations, including horizontal, vertical, PCB board installation, and busbar connections.
In addition, the B43693 series 125 V capacitors also have optimized heat sink installation, which increases the ripple current capability to more than twice the standard value, thereby helping customers significantly reduce the size and cost of capacitor banks. Taking a product with a size of 18 × 30mm as an example, the ripple current at an ambient temperature of 105 ℃ is 5.2A. If the aluminum shell temperature is maintained at 105 ℃ through a heat sink, the ripple current can be increased to 11.1A. This can bring many key advantages to designers, such as increasing power density, reducing equivalent series resistance (ESR), reducing the number of capacitors in the capacitor bank, and reducing assembly costs while ensuring reliability.
This product portfolio expansion further demonstrates TDK's commitment to supporting the design of next-generation low-voltage main motor drive controller inverters, providing compact, robust, and scalable DC support capacitor solutions for automotive and industrial electrification applications.
