Both parties jointly launch ADAS camera module based on ASA-ML standard for the automotive market
Microchip Technology Inc. has always been committed to making innovative designs simpler through holistic system solutions. Today, it announced a strategic partnership with global car camera module supplier Sunny Zhiling (a subsidiary of Sunny Optical Technology Group) to jointly expand the automotive SerDes Alliance Mobility Link (ASA-ML) ecosystem. As part of this collaboration, Shunyu Zhiling has launched an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) camera module based on Microchip VS700 series ASA-ML devices, aiming to provide the automotive industry with faster, simpler, and more cost-effective camera development solutions.
This collaboration combines Microchip ASA-ML serial technology with Sunny Zhiling's professional experience in the field of camera modules, aiming to help OEMs and first tier suppliers develop safe, high-speed, and standardized ADAS camera solutions for software defined vehicles (SDVs) more easily. ASA-ML enables interoperability of in vehicle connectivity, providing an alternative solution to traditional private serial/deserializer (SerDes) technologies or single vendor ecosystems.
The core advantage of ASA-ML technology lies in its integrated onboard safety and timing functions. The built-in security unit ASAsec provides native link layer authentication and encryption functions, effectively reducing system complexity and alleviating the security computing load on the host processor while protecting in vehicle data. Precision Time Base (PTB) technology achieves highly accurate and deterministic time synchronization between sensors, ensuring reliable sensor alignment and providing strong support for advanced ADAS sensor fusion applications.
This cooperation marks the maturity of the ASA-ML ecosystem, making vehicle manufacturers more confident that their core partners and suppliers are reaching an agreement around this standard. Shunyu Zhiling has chosen Microchip's ASA-ML solution to standardize its camera module, reflecting the continued maturity of the ecosystem and laying a solid foundation for the widespread adoption of this standard.
Kevin So, Vice President of Communications at Microchip, said, "By working closely with global suppliers such as Suning, we are building a mass-produced multi vendor camera ecosystem around ASA-ML, providing vehicle manufacturers with practical platform level options. This collaboration will launch a scalable ASA-ML series camera module to assist Chinese and global automotive customers in adopting safe, synchronous, and future oriented software defined automotive architectures
Ryan Zhou, Marketing Director of Suning Zhiling, said, "Microchip is at the forefront of ASA-ML technology for in car camera solutions, and partnering with Microchip is our strategic choice. This cooperation has laid an important foundation for us to promote the development of China's next-generation ADAS technology. ”
The Shunyu Zhiling camera module integrates Microchip's ASA-ML sequencer (VS775S), supporting prototype development and evaluation in the increasingly expanding ASA-ML ecosystem. Microchip is partnering with Suning to accelerate the development of standardized and interoperable ADAS camera architectures for automotive manufacturers and first tier suppliers, meeting the industry's demand for scalable software defined vehicles.
