Dior (Nasdaq: DIOD) launches AP53781 and AP53782 28V USB Type-C ®  Power Transfer (PD) Dual Function Power (DRP) controller designed to manage DC power requests and outputs for portable battery powered devices. These two controllers support the latest USB PD3.1 Extended Power Range (EPR) standard and can output up to 140W for charging and discharging internal battery power. USB Type-C connector devices (TCD) with dual function ports include power banks, power tools, electric bicycles, and portable displays, and users of these devices do not need to carry multiple adapters or data cables.

AP53781 and AP53782 have powerful firmware configurations that can automatically negotiate with PD3.1 compliant chargers for the sink end or with TCD for the source end. When the system battery is unable to provide power, both devices support a battery dead mode and operate with a powered function until an external power source is connected. The 34V withstand voltage configuration channel (CC) pin provides robust system protection to prevent accidental short circuits in high-voltage VBUS power lines.

AP53781 has a built-in power data object/request data object (PDO/RDO) menu for easy switching between power supply/reception. The PDO menu for power supply has eight configuration files. The powered RDO menu provides eight fixed output voltage levels and eight different output current options. These power configurations are set by external resistors, eliminating the need for expensive microcontrollers (MCUs) and reducing design complexity.

AP53782 includes an I2C interface, providing greater flexibility for more complex designs. This device can communicate with the host MCU and automatically determine more flexible power solutions based on input or output, as well as other intelligent power management functions.

AP53781 adopts a small-sized 3mm x 3mm W-QFN3030-16 (Type A1) package, while AP53782 adopts a 4mm x 4mm W-QFN4040-24 (Type A1) package. Both devices can operate within a junction temperature range of -40 ° C to+125 ° C.
