Allegro expands its Power Thru gate driver product line to simplify silicon carbide (SiC) power supply design for AI data centers and electric vehicle
2026-01-15
Allegro MicroSystems, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "Allegro", NASDAQ stock code: ALGM), one of the global leaders in motion control and energy-saving system power and sensing solutions, announced today the launch of the AHV85003/AHV85043 chipset, strategically expanding its own Power Thru ™  Isolation gate driver product portfolio. This extended product line, together with the flagship product AHV85311 integrated solution, has built a complete ecosystem to assist AI data centers, electric vehicles (EVs), and clean energy systems in achieving high-pressure silicon carbide (SiC) design.

This solution simplifies the challenges in power conversion design by eliminating the need for gate drivers to isolate external bias power supplies. This innovation not only enables small-sized solutions in the industry, but also reduces the Bill of Materials (BOM) and solves the key challenge of achieving higher power density, especially in demanding 800V systems.

Allegro's Power Thru™ The isolated gate driver integrates signal and power transmission through a single isolation barrier. This breakthrough method reduces the common mode capacitance in the system to 1/15 of its original value, solving the main noise source that affects efficiency. They can enhance electromagnetic interference (EMI) performance by up to 20dB, thereby improving overall system efficiency and significantly reducing the time investment required for designers to address noise issues.

In addition, the product portfolio now offers two different implementation paths: the flagship product AHV85311 integrated solution, which includes an isolation transformer, provides an integrated solution to accelerate product launch; The multifunctional new AHV85003/AHV85043 chipset enables designers to optimize costs and layout by selecting external transformers that are suitable for their specific isolation needs.

Vijay Mangtani, Vice President and General Manager of High Voltage Power Products at Allegro MicroSystems, said, "We are redefining engineers' expectations for gate drivers. With Power Thru technology, Allegro has solved the physical problem of noise in high-voltage systems. Nowadays, through chipsets and integrated solutions, we provide our customers with a complete toolkit. Whether customers pursue the plug and play convenience of integrated solutions or the fine control capability of chipsets, they can achieve transformative efficiency improvements and freely choose the SiC FET they need. ”
