New consumer grade solid-state drive with comprehensive performance upgrade, equipped with the latest generation BiCS FLASH ™ 8th generation 3D flash memory
Kioxia Corporation officially released the KIOXIA BG7 series solid state drives (SSDs) today. This product is the industry's first consumer grade solution for integrating the latest BiCS FLASHTM eighth generation 3D flash memory from an integrated company, utilizing innovative CMOS direct bonding to array (CBA) technology. The KIOXIA BG7 series is designed specifically for PC customers, achieving an excellent balance between performance, functionality, and energy efficiency, and is compatible with commercial/consumer laptops and desktop computers.
KIOXIA BG7 series consumer grade solid-state drive
KIOXIA BG7 Solid State Drive with BiCS FLASH ™ The optimized performance and energy efficiency advantages of the eighth generation flash memory empower various application scenarios. The random read/write performance of KIOXIA BG7 series can reach up to 1 million IOPS, and the sequential read speed can reach up to 7000 MB/s. Compared with the previous generation KIOXIA BG6 series products, the performance has been improved by about 10% and 16% respectively. Thanks to the performance optimization of storage units, efficient control circuit design, and tuning and upgrading of solid-state drive controllers brought by CBA technology, the energy efficiency of this series of products has been improved by about 67% in sequential write scenarios.
The KIOXIA BG7 series further enriches the product's functional configuration and specification dimensions. Newly added NVMe ™ The 2.0d protocol support can assist original equipment manufacturers in achieving more precise functional control. In addition, in addition to the existing M.2 Type 2230 and 2280 KIOXIA BG series models, the KIOXIA BG7 series has also added Type 2242 external dimensions to support a wider range of installation environments.
As a cost-effective consumer product series under Kioxia, the KIOXIA BG7 series solid-state drive adopts a DRAM free design, supports mature and stable host memory buffer (HMB) technology, and can call part of the host memory (DRAM), saving customers costs. Other core functions and advantages include:
Compatible with PCIe ® 4.0 and NVMe ™ 2.0d Technical Specifications
Support self encrypting hard drive (SED) functionality based on TCG Opal 2.01 version
Available in four capacity versions: 256 GB, 512 GB, 1024 GB, and 2048 GB
KIOXIA BG7 series solid-state drives will be showcased at the 2026 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) ® The exhibition will be held from January 6th to 8th, 2026, in the company exhibition area (Zeno 4710) on the 4th floor of the Venetian Conference Center. At present, some PC original equipment manufacturer customers have initiated sample testing work. For more information, please visit www.kioxia.com.

Solid state drive capacity definition: Kioxia Corporation defines kilobytes (KB) as 1000 bytes, megabytes (MB) as 1000000 bytes, gigabytes (GB) as 1000000000 bytes, terabytes (TB) as 100000000000 bytes, and kilobinary bytes (KiB) as 1024 bytes. However, computer operating systems use the power of 2 to report storage capacity, which is 1GB=2 ^ 30 bytes=1073741824 bytes, 1TB=2 ^ 40 bytes=1099511627776 bytes, so the displayed storage capacity is relatively small. The available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary depending on file size, format, settings, software and operating system, and/or pre installed software applications or media content. The actual formatted capacity may vary.
The read and write speed may vary depending on the host device, read and write conditions, and file size.
IOPS: Input/output operations per second (or I/O operations per second)
