Melexis, a global microelectronics engineering company, announced that its intelligent IVT (current, voltage, temperature) sensors MLX91230 and MLX91231 have passed ASIL C safety certification. The Hall effect chip MLX91230 and the shunt interface chip MLX91231 can simplify the implementation of ISO 26262 ASIL C (D) architecture and are suitable for key vehicle functions such as battery management systems (BMS), intelligent fuses, and high-voltage charging systems.
Current sensing is crucial for key vehicle functions such as battery management systems (BMS), intelligent fuses, and high-voltage charging systems, therefore, ensuring their high-level functional safety is necessary. The new security level certification for the MLX91230 and MLX91231 from Mailaixin greatly reduces the complexity and workload in building ASIL C (D) compliant systems.

These two devices integrate a wide range of intelligent functions, including microcontroller units (MCUs) and on-chip flash memory, and support customized software deployment and extensive compensation for system defects. The diagnosable OCD allows direct input into the fuse driver, making it possible to deploy smart fuses simply with fewer required components. In addition, the ASIL C safety level is applicable to current sensing functions and OCD, as well as additional temperature and voltage measurement channels. The optional LIN or UART output enables integration with 12V battery applications and power distribution modules, as well as direct communication with BMS or UART over CAN.

In the automotive industry, functional safety is a crucial requirement, and achieving ASIL C standards requires tremendous effort. By using MLX91230 and MLX91231 that meet ASIL C standards, we can not only provide our customers with highly accurate and feature rich solutions, but also help them achieve higher levels of functional safety more easily, "said Bruno Boury, Product Line Director at McLaren。
