Infineon Technologies Co., Ltd. recently launched a new TRAVEO equipped with a new graphics engine ™ T2G-C series automotive microcontroller (MCU). This engine adopts a brand new intelligent rendering technology, which can bring outstanding performance to automotive graphics applications. This new MCU takes up little space, simplifies the integration of the host factory and reduces BOM (Bill of Materials) costs. It is suitable for advanced intelligent mobile instrument panels and head up display systems for automobiles, motorcycles, non road mobile transportation vehicles, as well as industrial and medical applications that focus on quality and safety.
New TRAVEO ™ T2G-C series automotive microcontroller
Ralf Koedel, Vice President of Intelligent Mobile Mobility for Infineon's Microcontroller Product Line, stated: "The TRAVEO T2G-C series microcontroller is equipped with a dedicated graphics accelerator, which can help create microprocessor-based instrument panels, in car entertainment, and cabin systems at the cost of an MCU. This series of MCUs uses innovative line cache processing technology based on Infineon patents. Compared with similar semiconductor devices on the market, it only requires 10% of the traditional frame cache size, reducing power consumption, memory requirements, and BOM costs."
This device, when paired with a processor in the intelligent cockpit, can achieve extremely fast startup time. The built-in graphics engine in MCU can reduce the memory required for graphics processing by 3 to 5 times, thereby reducing power consumption and costs. Due to its optimized 2.5D graphics engine, this MCU can support full virtual dashboards with resolutions up to 1920 x 1080. In addition, the new T2G-C series MCU has launched engineering samples. It has an LPDDR4 interface that can display complex 3D scenes, providing designers with greater freedom in designing modern human-machine interfaces (HMI).
The TRAVEO T2G-C series microcontroller is equipped with two Arm Cortex-M7 cores with frequencies up to 320 MHz, providing the best ASIL-B/SIL-2 security performance in its class. This series of MCUs has up to 6MB of flash memory and 4MB of internal graphics memory or 1GB of LPPDR4 graphics memory, and is equipped with the EVITA Advanced Hardware Security Module (HSM), providing advanced security through a hardware encryption accelerator and enhanced hardware protection through a dedicated ARM Cortex-M0+. Therefore, this cost-effective MCU fully considers the latest functional and information security requirements, and offers a wide range of packaging options from 500 pin BGA (via 216 pin TEQFP) to 144 pin LQFP. CAN-FD, LIN, Gigabit Ethernet, and CXPI are provided as embedded peripherals. The JPEG decoder, video input and output, and two serial memory interfaces (SPI or xSPI) make the entire product portfolio more complete.
Infineon provides customers with a reliable network of partners and supports critical hardware functions of microcontrollers through their HMI tools. Combined with certified HMI tools, the TRAVEO T2G graphics controller can assist developers in achieving optimal application performance.
