Infineon Technology Co., Ltd. (FSE code: IFX/OTCQX code: IFNNY) launches the TLE988x and TLE989x series, further expanding its comprehensive and mature MOTIX ™ MCU embedded power IC product portfolio. Infineon's system level chip solution integrates gate drivers, microcontrollers, communication interfaces, and power supplies onto one chip, achieving the minimum board area. The all-new TLE988x and TLE989x series have higher performance, characterized by CAN (FD) as the communication interface. The new IC has been certified by AEC Q-100 and is the ideal choice for automotive brushless DC motors and brushless DC motor control applications in body, comfort, and thermal management applications.
Andreas Doll, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Intelligent Power Product Line at Infineon Technology, stated: By using fast and robust on-chip CAN FD transceivers for host communication, the new MOTIX MCU embedded power IC series meets customers' demand for integrated intelligent motor control solutions to be minimized. Compared to the mature TLE987x product series, the new product series has increased processing power by about 60% and provides functional safety and network security functions, which are increasingly important for oil pumps used in electric vehicle thermal management systems Important
The new device is equipped with a B4 or B6 bridge N-channel MOSFET driver, Arm ® Cortex ® M3 microcontroller, a CAN (FD) controller and transceiver, supporting a communication speed of 2 Mbps. With high system frequency (60 MHz) and dual flash memory capabilities that can read and write simultaneously, customers can not only enjoy fast and stable communication, but also achieve the highest computing performance. The relevant functions of the new product comply with the ISO 26262 (ASIL B) standard, and some models also have built-in network security features. All of these functions are integrated in a 7 mm x 7 mm TQFP package, with industry-leading footprint.
The MOTIX MCU TLE988x two-phase bridge driver series and the MOTIX MCU TLE989x three-phase bridge driver series contain multiple semiconductor devices, with a flash memory capacity of up to 256 kB and support for a temperature range of up to 175 ° C (Tj max). In addition, this series of ICs adopts Infineon's patented adaptive MOSFET control algorithm, which compensates for changes in MOSFET parameters in the system by automatically adjusting gate current, thereby achieving the required switching operations. This optimizes the system's ability to resist electromagnetic interference (electromagnetic radiation, slow rate of rotation) and power consumption (short dead time). Adaptive MOSFET control can also maintain the same switching behavior in different MOSFET production batches or MOSFET suppliers, achieving supply chain flexibility.
To accelerate the evaluation and design import process, MOTIX MCU embedded power IC has a comprehensive ecosystem support, including software, evaluation boards and kits, as well as multiple simulation, configuration, and visualization tools. Infineon also provides a reference design for a 150 W cooling pump. In addition to example and demonstration software, Infineon also provides a comprehensive commercial software product stack, covering the ASPICE standard motor control algorithm library for vehicles, including FOC algorithm.
Supply situation
MOTIX MCU TLE988x and TLE989x devices have been put into production and launched. Two models using 64 pin LQFP packaging will be launched in December 2023.
