Infineon launches the new EiceDRIVER 1200 V half bridge driver IC series, with active Miller clamp protection to enhance the durability of high-power
2023-05-08
Infineon Technology Co., Ltd. (FSE code: IFX/OTCQX code: IFNNY) continues to launch EiceDRIVER ™ After the 6ED223xS12T series of 1200 V silicon on insulator (SOI) three-phase gate drivers, the EiceDRIVER 2ED132xS12x series is now being launched to further expand its product portfolio. The half bridge configuration of the IC series of this driver complements the existing 1200V SOI series, providing customers with more choices and design flexibility. The enhanced current output capability enhances the applicability of this product portfolio to higher system power levels. These devices can provide industry-leading negative electrode VS negative transient voltage immunity, breakdown protection, undervoltage locking protection, and fast overcurrent protection characteristics. These features not only reduce the number of components and achieve a more robust design, but also make their compact appearance suitable for high-power applications such as commercial HVAC systems, heat pumps, servo drives, industrial inverters, and pumps and fans with output power up to 10 kW.

There are four models of half bridge driver ICs in this series, each using two different packaging technologies: 2ED132xS12M adopts DSO-16 300 mil packaging, with a current capacity of+2.3 A/-4.6 A; The 2ED132xS12P adopts a DSO-20 300 mil package with a+2.3 A/-2.3 A current drive capability. This series of products has excellent switching performance, and the packaging retains sufficient creepage distance and electrical clearance. This series of products integrates a low resistance (30 Ω) bootstrap diode, provides ultra fast and accurate (± 5% tolerance) overcurrent protection (OCP), and achieves input, fault output, and programmable fault reset functions through separate logic ground (VSS) and output ground (COM) pins. The 2ED132xS12M variant also has additional functions such as active Miller clamp (AMC) and short circuit clamp (SCC).

Infineon's SOI technology eliminates the parasitic thyristor structure and improves the robustness and immunity of the negative transient voltage on the VS pin, which can ensure the endurance of the repeated 700 ns pulse cycle to the 100 V - VS transient. In addition, these semiconductor devices comply with RoHS standards and have electrostatic protection (ESD) and moisture resistance.
