Kaixia launches PCIe 5.0 data center grade solid-state drive CD9P, based on BiCS 8 TLC NAND flash memory
2025-06-23
Kaixia announced yesterday local time in the United States the launch of a new generation PCIe 5.0 data center grade solid-state drive CD9P based on the eighth generation BiCS 3D TLC NAND flash memory. This series of products is designed specifically for GPU accelerated AI servers that require high throughput, low latency, and high consistency.

CD9P can be divided into two types of branches based on write durability: 1DWPD read intensive and 3DWPD mixed load; In terms of exterior specifications, it offers two versions: 2.5-inch 15mm thickness U.2 and EDSFF E3. S. The former has a capacity of up to 61.44TB, while the latter can reach 30.72TB.

According to the official data provided by Kaixia, the performance indicators of the CD9P series have significantly improved compared to the 3DWPD variant CD8P-V of CD8P, which also supports PCIe 5.0

CD9P  CD8P-V
Maximum sequential reading of 14.8 GB/s and 12 GB/s
Maximum sequential writing of 7 GB/s and 5.5 GB/s
Maximum random read 2600K IOPS 2000K IOPS
Maximum random write 750K IOPS 400K IOPS

On the 15.36TB model of CD9P, significant energy efficiency improvements have been achieved compared to the previous generation, with sequential reads, sequential writes, random reads, and random writes per watt increased by 60%, 45%, 55%, and 100%, respectively.
