TDK Corporation (TSE: 6762) announces the expansion of MLJ1608-G series laminated inductors (size: 1.6 x 0.8 x 0.8 mm) for automotive coaxial cable power supply (PoC) circuits; Length x width x height). The new products in this series have started mass production in October 2026.

The automotive PoC technology can simultaneously transmit power and data through a single coaxial cable, mainly used in the on-board cameras that make up advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Multiple cameras installed at the front, rear, and side of the vehicle are responsible for detecting the surrounding environment, and the collected information is processed by the electronic control unit (ECU) to support safe driving. In traditional architecture, two cables (one for power supply and one for data transmission) need to be connected between the car camera and ECU. PoC technology integrates these two functions into a single coaxial cable, which not only reduces the number of cables in the vehicle, but also brings higher reliability, more compact wiring layout, and helps to achieve vehicle lightweighting and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Before signal processing, the PoC system requires a broadband filter composed of multiple inductors to separate the data signal and power supply. With proprietary materials and structural design, the MLJ1608-G series achieves high impedance in the frequency range of 300 MHz to 2 GHz, thanks to its inductance value of up to 1.2 μ H, while traditional products only have 0.56 μ H. In the frequency range of 100 to 700 MHz, its impedance is 1.7 to 2 times that of traditional components, which can achieve excellent noise suppression effect. In addition, the component adopts a compact size of 1608, which helps to promote further miniaturization of the car camera module.

In the research and development field of automotive PoC inductors, TDK will continue to leverage the optimization design advantages of process technologies such as layering, winding, and thin film, continuously expand its product lineup to meet the growing market demand, and contribute to further improving the quality of PoC signal transmission.
