The company announced a product update for the C&K Switches KSC2 sealed tactile switch product line. This surface mounted waterproof tactile switch series has now increased its electrical height.

The KSC2 series tactile switch used for surface mount technology (SMT) is an IP67, 3.5mm high instantaneous action tactile switch equipped with a soft driver. These switches come in multiple models, providing different electrical life lengths and can withstand various operating forces.

The latest KSC2 tactile switch has excellent durability and longer service life, superior to other switches on the market, and does not require frequent replacement. Over time, its stable performance can enhance user confidence and ensure reliable functionality. The KSC2 tactile switch provides clear tactile feedback, making it easier for users to know that their input has been recorded. The use of the redesigned KSC2 series products will make them more reliable, easy to use, and secure, ultimately benefiting end users.

The KSC2 tactile switch has the following main functions and advantages:

• Electrical height of sealed tactile switch: By precisely defining the distance between the driving point and the bottom contact, accurate and reliable electrical connection is ensured.
IP67 rating: Ensuring durability and reliability in harsh environments by providing dust resistance and up to 30 minutes of water resistance at 1 meter.
• Compatibility with lead-free reflow soldering: By withstanding high temperatures and thermal cycles in lead-free, RoHS compliant soldering processes, efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly manufacturing can be achieved.
• Soft drive (3.5mm high): Provides a soft touch and consistent activation through the soft drive, achieving comfortable, improved user experience and precise operation.

Working principle: Compared with the printed circuit board (PCB) benchmark, electrical height enhancement can improve the accuracy of electrical switch positions, which is essential for stacking tolerances. This new feature makes the KSC2 switch easier to integrate than other electrical stroke products on the market. Generally speaking, designers need to determine the switch point position from the PCB and apply the formula: product height ± 0.2mm minus electrical stroke ± 0.2mm, giving a minimum total tolerance of ± 0.4mm. The purpose of annotating dimensions with electrical height values is to avoid cumulative tolerances and propose a functional value with smaller tolerances. The electrical height is stable, and it is recommended that the standard tolerance be only ± 0.15mm or ± 0.2mm.
