Littelfuse adds ITV2718 5-amp rated current battery protector series to prevent damage to lithium battery packs
2024-07-24
The ideal choice for the next generation of smartphones, game consoles, and other consumer electronics products

Littelfuse Corporation (NASDAQ: LFUS) is an industrial technology manufacturing company dedicated to providing power for a sustainable, interconnected, and safer world. The company announced the expansion of its ITV2718 surface mounted lithium battery protector series. These fuses can protect lithium battery packs from overcurrent and overcharging (overvoltage) during fast charging.
The latest ITV2718 has a size of 2.7 x 1.8mm and comes with a 5-amp, three terminal fuse. This innovative design utilizes a combination of embedded fuses and heater elements to quickly respond and interrupt the charging or discharging circuit of the battery pack before overcharging or overheating occurs.

The ITV2718 battery protector is suitable for various consumer electronics products, including:

• Game console
• Automatic emergency call system
• Portable router
• Portable modem
• Smartphones
• Laptops and tablets

By further expanding our ITV lithium battery pack protection fuse series and incorporating these new devices with a rated current of 5 amperes, Littelfuse provides electronic engineers with more choices for the design of next-generation consumer electronics products Continuing to expand our surface mount, three terminal battery pack protector product portfolio enables us to provide stronger and more innovative battery protection solutions for these product development teams, "said Stephen Li, Global Product Manager at Littelfuse

ITV2718 offers the following key advantages:

Prevent battery pack damage from overcurrent and overcharging through fast response time and low internal resistance;
Surface mount design simplifies the automatic assembly process of printed circuit boards (PCBs);
Meet industry safety requirements through UL and TUV certifications to accelerate compliance approvals;
Environmentally friendly components that are halogen-free and comply with RoHS standards.

working principle

The embedded three terminal fuse immediately cuts off the circuit in case of overcurrent. The heater element is directly embedded below the fuse element, and once the integrated circuit or field-effect transistor detects overcharging, it will generate enough heat to blow the fuse.

Supply situation

ITV2718 provides tape packaging with a minimum order quantity of 4000 pieces. Accept sample requests through globally authorized Littelfuse distributors. To learn about the list of authorized Littelfuse distributors, please visit Littelfuse.com.
