TDK launches a mechanically decoupled ultrasonic sensor module for collision avoidance applications
2023-09-16
TDK Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange code: 6762) has recently launched the ultrasonic sensor module USSM1.0 PLUS-FS for mechanical decoupling of sensors and casings. The new coupling design ensures that the sensor with order number B59110W2111W032 and protection level IP65/67 is protected from external mechanical vibrations, preventing erroneous measurements caused by this. The nominal voltage of this module is 12 V and can be installed to the front chassis through M19 threads with locking nuts or spring buckles.
The integrated signal processor ASIC, triggered by a driver and an integrated piezoelectric disk, can calculate signal propagation time with a repetition rate of up to 50 samples per second. It can accurately measure distances from 18 centimeters to 200 centimeters, and can even measure distances of 4 centimeters in the transmission and reception mode of multiple modules. The standard field of view (FoV) of USSM1.0 PLUS-FS is ± 35 °, which can be customized and optimized according to customer needs, and can also be programmed for personalized application scenarios. The sensor module can accurately measure under various brightness conditions, including sunlight exposure, and the measurement accuracy is not affected by the color and transparency of the target object.

The ultrasonic module can accurately measure distance and detect obstacles in complex environmental conditions, making it very suitable for autonomous mobile robots (AMR) or autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs).
